1. Do I need horse-riding experience to take part in the sessions?

Not at all! All Equine Assisted Facilitation sessions take place on the ground—there is no riding involved. Interaction happens through observation and guided activities with the horse.

2. Are the horses willing participants?

The horses’ well-being is a top priority. They are never forced to do anything and always have the freedom to decide not to participate. They are very sensitive animals and their comfort and emotional safety are essential to ensure a respectful and ethical experience for participants.

3. How many sessions are needed to see results?

Everyone is different, but for deeper, lasting change, we recommend a minimum of 4 sessions. However, meaningful insights can emerge from the very first experience. The 8 session program is recommended to anchor long-term transformation.

4. What does a typical session involve?

Each session begins with a safety overview. Kieran will then have a conversation to clarify participant goals and expectations. Then the participant will engage in guided interaction with one or more horses. The session will end with a debrief for the participant to reflect on their experience and to prepare for next steps, this is a very important as part of the session.

5. Are the sessions suitable for all age groups?

Yes, although Kieran focuses on sessions for young adults they can in fact be tailored for other age groups i.e. teens, adults, and even families depending on individual needs. Group activities or workshops can be specifically designed for certain age groups or participant profiles. Please feel free to get in touch with Kieran to discuss if this is something of interest to you.

6. What are the proven benefits of this type of approach?

This approach has seen to provide greater self-awareness, better stress and emotional regulation Increased, self-confidence and more authentic communication.

7. Does the participant need any previous experience when considering this type of coaching?

No prior experience is needed. Whether the participant is completely new to coaching or already familiar with it, sessions are tailored to meet the participants needs.

9. How should a participant prepare for a session?

Wear comfortable clothing suited for the outdoors (closed-toe shoes or boots are recommended). There may be specific areas the participant wishes to focus on and if not, Kieran will work with the participant to help unfold particular areas during the session.

11. How do I book a session or workshop?

12. What are your hours and location?

Sessions take place Monday through Saturday. Schedules are flexible and arranged according to participant availability. Each session is held outdoors in a rural location near where the horses live and is on the outskirts of Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

13. I’m interested but a bit nervous around horses—can I still join?

Absolutely! Feeling a bit nervous is totally normal, especially if the participant is not used to being around horses. The approach used by Kieran is gentle and gradual, and participants are guided step by step in getting to know the horses. The goal is to help the participant feel safe and to build trust at their own pace. No prior experience is needed—many participants started out hesitant and ended up having a truly meaningful experience.
